Server 2008 | The IP address already assigned to another adapter

I’d just done a transfer of one VMware image to another server but the NIC drivers didn’t seem to transfer over correctly. Wasn’t an issue, just added a new virtual adapter but when I tried to add the previously used IP address I got the following message:

Microsoft TCP/IP
The IP address 10.77.77.7 you have entered for this network adapter is already assigned to another 'NIC1'. 'NIC1' is hidden from the network and Dial-up Connections folder because it is not physically in the computer or is a legacy adapter that is not working. If the same address is assigned to both adapters and they become active, only one of them will use this address. This may result in incorrect system configuration. Do you want to enter a different IP address for this adapter in the list of IP addresses in the advanced dialog box?

Just to note, this is not specifically a VMware error either. I have come across this before in a genuine installation.

So let’s get on with it, I have multiple users and multiple Organisational Units that I want to import my Active Directory (d0tk0m.com).

Active Directory: Remove Clients Local Administrator Account

It is always recommended to remove local accounts from workstations in a domain environment and use only domain accounts. By default Windows Vista and 7 should do this but Windows XP does not. What we will need to do is create a simple batch file and attach it to a GPO (Group Policy Object) and then deploy that GPO to the required Workstations within your Computers OU (Organisational Unit).
